Andrei Kravchuks movie THE ADMIRAL focuses on the life, last love affair, and death of an early 20th century leader Alexander Kolchak. An Admiral of the Royal Navy, polar explorer and oceanographer, Kolchak led the White Guards in the Russian civil war only to be shot down by the Reds at age 46. THE ADMIRAL may best be described as a blend of historical melodrama and epic battle scenes. The man who shot it, Andrei Kravchuk, is a winner of several International awards. About Alexander Kolchak, one of the White Army's most controversial commanders. Married to Sofia and with a young son, Kolchak nevertheless falls heavily for Anna, the wife of a friend and fellow officer. Although Kolchak and Anna initially try to resist their passion and are separated in the chaos of the Revolution, they eventually unite in Siberia, where Kolchak is fighting the Bolsheviks on the banks of the Ushakovka River.
